ISSUES PARENTS BRINGS TO ME:

We can get stuck in roles and patterns that are difficult to break. As parents, we don’t always know how to respond to our children’s behaviour or how to handle tough parenting situations. Children communicate their feelings through their behaviour. When a child’s behaviour is causing trouble at school or disrupting families life, it is important to get help. Your child’s behaviour (withdrawn, anxious, irritable, disruptive, melting down, or getting into fights) is a form of communication.

HOW IS COUNSELLING HELPFUL?

Through counselling, I help parents to uncover their thoughts and feelings around parenting, children, and themselves. This knowledge assists parents in identifying when and why a child’s behaviour would “trigger” them and why they respond in a specific manner. Parents also become more aware of how their actions may impact those around them.

We also learn about the developmental stages of children and what is appropriate behaviour for those stages. I will equip you with strategies around dealing with situations that may lead to you feel hopeless, frustrated, sad, or angry. I will teach you how to build a stronger connection and to improve your communication with your child and other family members.
